I've been playing RPGs since I was 9 years old, which would put me at freaking ancient. The first D&D book I recall seeing was the one with the demon statue on the front (you know, the jeweled eye) though I'm fairly sure we played with the Blue Box prior to that. I have no idea which one actually came first in the history of the game, that's just the order in which I saw them.
LARPing was discovered at around age 11, but we didn't call it LARP. I think we referred to it as, "Mom, can I use your sewing machine to make a white cloak so I can pretend to be a swanmae druidess and tramp around the woods? Thanks." All told, my mom is pretty cool. (She also insisted I read Tolkien, Heinlein, and Andre Norton, and she had a massive crush on Spock. The secret is out, Mom.)
