I'm posting this to let all of you know that starting in January, the format for our game will be "officially" changing. I'm no longer going to be "Head GM" or whatever, at least for a long time. Instead of the "Nathan runs a campaign" format we've had for so long, I want to switch to some different gaming styles and formats. I'd like to get some collaborative games going, and encourage others to step up and run their own games.
I have a large stock of gamer friends in the area here, and with this new format I'd like to encourage them to come in and out, show up and play a session, and not feel pressured to commit to something long-term and hard-core. I'd love to play with these folks a lot more often, and hopefully by making the format more friendly towards more casual gamers, I can get them to start coming back.
As such, I also intend to return to the Every-Sunday meet-up schedule. I don't expect everyone to show up every time - nay, I actually hope to see the roster change greatly with each gathering. My goal here is to have a shifting repertory-style approach to a gaming group, where the players and location all shift around. Additionally, I don't intend to be present myself during every session, having stepped away from the "leadership" role of this group. I'd like the group to become an entity of its own, no longer requiring my efforts to make things happen.
With this new schedule, we'll of course be playing a lot of different games, and often. I'd like to see some demos, one-shots, play-tests, tournament games, pick-up collaboratives, round-robin games, and more.
Our next Sunday session will see the conclusion of the current Sunday campaign. The gathering scheduled after that is the "I'm Not GMing On My Birthday" gathering. Following that, our first session of the new year will be on Sunday, January 6th. This will mark the beginning of the new format, and from then on we'll be looking at weekly meetings. We'll need to establish an extended group roster, and a few additional locations beyond my house (especially useful when I don't play). I'll be adding an event-coordination tool to this site in the near future, which will be excellent for coordinating events in advance, should any of you ever have an idea for a game to run.
That's all I can think of for now. See you all soon!
